Buy Mutant Whey in the 2.27kg tub. At £53.56 on Amazon it costs 99p per 25g of protein, against £1.16 for the cheapest Warrior Whey you can buy today, the 1kg bag on Amazon at £33.12. Warrior Whey is the denser powder, with 71.2g of protein per 100g against Mutant's 59.46g, but its cheap 1kg and 2kg bags were sold out on teamwarrior.com, so it has lost its price edge. If you only want a small bag, Warrior's 1kg beats Mutant's 908g tub, which works out at £1.83 per 25g of protein. WheyWise ranks both on cost per 25g of protein, not tub price.
Mutant Whey costs 99p per 25g of protein in its 2.27kg tub, and Warrior Whey costs £1.16 in the cheapest bag you can buy today, so Mutant is now the better value even though Warrior is the denser powder. Both sit in the middle of the UK whey market rather than at the budget end: Myprotein Impact Whey in its 2.5kg bag is 96p per 25g of protein on Amazon.
This comparison uses each product's nutrition label and the prices WheyWise tracks from Amazon UK and Warrior. No sponsorships, just the numbers that matter when you are choosing your next tub.
The products at a glance
Mutant Whey is a blend of four whey sources (concentrate, phospholipid concentrate, isolate and hydrolysed whey) from Mutant, a Canadian brand best known for its mass gainers and pre-workouts. It gives 22g of protein in a 37g scoop. In the UK WheyWise finds it priced on Amazon in 908g, 2.27kg and 4.54kg tubs.
Warrior Whey comes from Warrior, a Manchester brand that sells through its own website and Amazon. It is a whey concentrate and milk protein blend with 17.8g of protein in a 25g scoop. The 500g bag is on sale direct from Warrior; the 1kg and 2kg bags were sold out there, so Amazon is the place to buy the bigger sizes.

Price comparison
Mutant Whey is cheaper per gram of protein in its big tub, and Warrior Whey is cheaper at around 1kg. Mutant Whey 2.27kg costs 99p per 25g of protein at £53.56 on Amazon UK, while Warrior Whey 1kg costs £1.16 at £33.12. Down at the small sizes the order flips: Mutant's 908g tub at £39.60 is £1.83 per 25g of protein.
Price per 100g of powder is not the number to compare, because the two powders carry different amounts of protein. Cost per 25g of protein takes that into account: a powder with 59g of protein per 100g has to be cheaper per tub to match one with 71g. That is how WheyWise ranks every product, and our guide to cost per serving shows the maths.
| Product and pack | Price, where | Cost per 25g protein |
|---|---|---|
| Mutant Whey 2.27kg | £53.56, Amazon UK | 99p |
| Mutant Whey 4.54kg | £111.99, Amazon UK | £1.04 |
| Warrior Whey 1kg | £33.12, Amazon UK | £1.16 |
| Warrior Whey 2kg | £67.18, Amazon UK | £1.18 |
| Warrior Whey 500g | £17.99, Warrior | £1.26 |
| Mutant Whey 908g | £39.60, Amazon UK | £1.83 |
Warrior used to win this on price. At its listed £49.99 for 2kg on teamwarrior.com, Warrior Whey would be 88p per 25g of protein, cheaper than Mutant's 99p, but that bag and the £29.99 1kg were sold out. Our post on whether Warrior protein is expensive covers why. For live prices on both, check the whey concentrate comparison table.
Protein content and nutrition
Warrior Whey is the denser powder, with 71.2g of protein per 100g against 59.46g for Mutant Whey, about 20% more protein in every gram you scoop.
Warrior Whey gives 17.8g of protein in a 25g scoop, which is 71.2g per 100g on the teamwarrior.com label. That is normal for a whey concentrate, level with Bulk Pure Whey at 71g and Myprotein Impact Whey at 72g.
Mutant Whey gives 22g of protein in a 37g scoop, which is 59.46g per 100g. The rest of the scoop is mostly carbohydrate and fat: stockists list 150 kcal per 37g serving. You need about 20% more Mutant Whey powder to get the same protein as Warrior Whey.
Put another way, 30g of Warrior Whey gives about 21.4g of protein and 30g of Mutant Whey about 17.8g. Over a month of daily 30g shakes that is roughly 106g less protein from Mutant, or about four 25g servings, which is why cost per 25g of protein is the fairer comparison than tub price.

Taste and mixability
Both mix adequately in a standard shaker, though neither is as smooth as an isolate. Expect the slightly thicker texture typical of whey concentrates and blends.
Warrior Whey has the wider UK flavour range. The 500g bag on teamwarrior.com comes in nine flavours: Double Chocolate, Strawberry Creme, Vanilla Ice Cream, Vanilla Milkshake, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Brownie, Strawberry Milkshake, White Chocolate and Coconut. The flavours tend to be sweet, sometimes overly so.
Mutant Whey's UK listings are on Amazon, where the flavour you can get depends on the listing. The flavours do the job without standing out, and it mixes fine with water, though it can feel slightly gritty next to a higher-protein powder.
Neither product is going to win taste awards against Gold Standard or Applied Nutrition ISO-XP, but both are perfectly acceptable for a daily shake.
Where to buy in the UK
Warrior Whey is cheapest on Amazon UK for the 1kg and 2kg bags, and direct from Warrior for the 500g at £17.99. If the 1kg and 2kg come back in stock on Warrior's own site at £29.99 and £49.99, buying direct becomes the cheapest option by a distance.
Mutant Whey is priced on Amazon UK only, in the prices WheyWise tracks. The 2.27kg tub is the size to buy: it is cheaper per gram of protein than both the 908g and the 4.54kg.
