founder of WheyWise

  • Sports nutrition industry professional
  • Hands-on product tester

I work professionally in sports nutrition, on the commercial side of the protein powder industry, so I see how pricing, formulation and marketing actually work from the inside, not just as a shopper. WheyWise started because that professional view didn't match what I found when I went looking for a straightforward UK price comparison: I was opening MyProtein, Bulk, Amazon and Holland & Barrett in separate tabs, trying to work out what was actually cheapest per gram of protein, and losing track halfway through. Nothing UK-specific did that job properly, so I built one.

WheyWise now tracks over 1,900 products across 85+ UK brands and retailers, refreshed automatically and normalised to cost per 25g of protein, so a 1kg tub of isolate and a 2.5kg bag of concentrate can be compared honestly. Where I can, I test products myself and check nutrition figures against the manufacturer's own label rather than relying on marketing copy, an aggregator review, or whatever a scraper happened to pull off a retailer page, because those three things disagree with each other more often than you'd expect.

WheyWise is a side project, not a business I run full-time. Rankings are driven only by price and, where relevant, verified nutrition, never by which retailer pays the highest commission. It exists to give the UK fitness community, and anyone trying to work out what's actually worth buying, an honest and specific answer instead of another sponsored "best of" list.
