Who we are
WheyWise is a free, independently run side project that tracks protein powder prices across UK retailers. It is operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at contact@wheywise.co.uk or via the contact page.
What data we collect
We keep data collection to a minimum. Here is exactly what we collect and why:
- Analytics (with your consent): If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, where people drop off, and what devices they use. IP addresses are anonymised by Google. We do not use advertising or remarketing trackers.
- Contact form submissions: When you send us a message via the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content. This is sent to us via Resend (our email provider) and stored only in our email inbox. We use it solely to reply to you.
- Essential cookies: We store a small cookie called
clearcookiethat remembers your consent preferences. It contains no personal data — just whether you accepted or declined analytics. It expires after 365 days. - Theme preference: We store your light/dark mode preference in your browser's local storage (
ww-theme). This never leaves your device.
What we do NOT collect

Cookies
When you first visit WheyWise, a cookie consent banner asks for your permission before any analytics cookies are set. You can change your preferences at any time using the cookie settings button in the bottom-left corner of the page.

Third-party services
We use a small number of trusted services:
- Google Analytics 4: Anonymous usage analytics. Only active if you consent. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Tag Manager: Manages the loading of analytics scripts. Does not collect data itself.
- Vercel: Hosts the website. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Resend: Delivers contact form emails. Subject to Resend's Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- •Access any personal data we hold about you
- •Request correction or deletion of your data
- •Withdraw consent at any time (via the cookie settings button)
- •Lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we handle your data
In practice, we hold almost no personal data. If you've never used the contact form, we have nothing linked to you at all.
Data retention
Contact form messages are kept in our email inbox for as long as needed to respond. Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Consent cookies expire after 1 year.
Children
WheyWise is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For a free side project with minimal data collection, changes are unlikely to be frequent.
